In Touch Online - what's happening this month
In like a lion - If there is any truth in old sayings, we saw it this year. March rolled in and left a heap of snow but thoughts are now turning to longer days and Spring temperatures.
As this time of year comes around, we are reminded of all things new - the change of seasons, flowers beginning to emerge from their winter slumber and the morning song of birds greeting each new day. It is a time of hope and rebirth. Bay Gardens and Bayview Cemetery wish you all the best as you welcome the upcoming arrival of Spring.
We will Remember Them
Last month, we were honoured to serve the family of Jack McFarland, one of the last remaining veterans of WWII and the famous 1942 raid at Dieppe. The funeral home welcomed over 500 visitors who paid their respects over the course of a few days, either with the family in person or to sign one of the Books of Condolences set up in our lobbies. The service was a dignified, fitting tribute to a local hero, complete with police and military traditions. Please take a look at the photos on our Facebook page.
We were proud to support many recent worthy community causes. Here are some places you may have met our staff:
February 13th- Hawaiian Bowl-A-Thon Lane Sponsor
This 2nd annual event helped to raise awareness and funds to support Wesley Urban Ministries Housing and Homelessness programs.
February 23rd - Soupfest Hamilton
If you attended this wonderful annual event, you may have said hello to our staff who volunteered as mobile ticket sellers throughout the evening. It was another successful event to support the fine work of The Living Rock and the work they do to help at risk youth.
February 26th - Development and Peace Pasta Supper
Held each year at Lent, The Canadian Catholic Organization For Development and Peace is the member organization in Canada of CARITAS INTERNATIONALIS. CARITAS works with and for those in need regardless of creed, race, gender, or ethnicity. Its mandate includes integral development, emergency relief, advocacy, peace building, respect for human rights, and support for proper stewardship of the planet's environment and resources.
February 27th - Dads for Dads Ultimate Chef Challenge
Bereaved Families of Ontario's Hamilton- Burlington chapter once again held its annual chef challenge. It was an exciting evening of friendly competition filled with delicious food and music. Our own staff member, Varinder Virdi, took home 3rd place!! Well done Varinder and BFO for another successful event.
March 5th - Stephen Lewis Foundation - Grandmothers Campaign
The Stephen Lewis Foundation launched the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign in March 2006, in response to the emerging crisis faced by African grandmothers as they struggled to care for millions of children orphaned by AIDS. The Campaign aims to raise awareness, build solidarity and mobilize support in Canada for Africa's grandmothers. We were proud to support this event.

More than just a pretty face!
Our Burlington location, at 1010 Botanical Drive, is situated in a beautiful location with views of the wooded grounds of Bayview Cemetery and the bay beyond. For us, serene and well-appointed doesn't mean overpriced. We are proud to be the lowest-priced, full service funeral home in Burlington. But don't take our word for it, come and see our facilities for yourself.
Flag Exchange Program
You may have read that we recently launched our Flag Exchange Program. In honour of our great nation and as a sign of thanks to our service men and women, past and present, we invite the public to bring in any old or worn Canadian flag. We will replace it with a new one at no charge. Flags are 18"x36". With quantities limited, come in and get your flag today and stay tuned for more information about a special ceremony later this year!
